Optomap® Retinal Exam
At Primary Eye Care Associates in Chicago, we are excited to offer the advanced Optomap® retinal exam—a cutting-edge, non-invasive diagnostic tool that provides a comprehensive and detailed image of your retina. This painless procedure offers numerous benefits and is suitable for patients of all ages.
The retina (located at the back of your eye) is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. By looking at the retina, your eye doctor can not only see signs of eye conditions but also those of other issues such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and stroke.
What is an Optomap® retinal exam?
The Optomap® retinal exam is a revolutionary diagnostic tool that allows our eye doctor to create high-resolution digital images of the retina. It is the only technology that can capture 82% of the retina in a single shot.
This innovative diagnostic tool helps our optometrist identify and monitor various eye conditions, including:
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Macular degeneration
- Glaucoma
- Retinal tears or detachments
- Hypertension-related eye issues
The Optomap® retinal exam is a fast, easy, and painless way to scan and image your retina. Nothing touches your eye at any time. During the exam, you will look into the device one eye at a time and will see a flash of light when the image of your retina has been taken. The image capture takes less than a second.
Optomap® retinal exams should be included in all comprehensive eye exams. Keeping a record of your retinal health this way allows us to track changes in your eyes over time.
